My Birth Story......Part 2

March 25, 2012

As I headed towards the OR.  Jeff and my doula De'Andrea were getting into their OR gear.  Jeff had brought the carseat into the hospital.....lol.
While I was being prepped in the OR, Ambrose's heart rate dropped into the 40's.  There was discussion about doing a vertical incision and the doctor said, "She's worked so hard.  I'm doing horizontal."  De'Andrea and Jeff came into the OR just in time to see them pulling Ambrose out.

Jeff and I in the OR room.  We're about to become parents!

De'Andrea was so awesome.  She had never seen a c section and I'm so glad she was willing to come into the OR.  She held my hand the entire time.  I was so happy that Jeff could go see Ambrose as soon as he came out and go take pictures.  He could have that one on one moment with his son.  At the same time I was not alone.  De'Andrea who I knew was there by my side.  I'll never forget when Ambrose came out she kept telling me how beautiful he was and that he had dark hair.

This is the first photo taken of Daddy and Ambrose.

Jeff brought Ambrose over to me.  I will never forget how he had the tightest grip on Ambrose.  He was carrying one of the most precious human beings in our life and was making sure he didn't drop him.  I thought Ambrose was so beautiful and thinking where did he come from.  I couldn't believe that this little person was what was inside me for ten months.  He was finally here....I am now a mom.

Our first family photo....Jeff is a little tired.

Ambrose's battle scar from his head pushing against my pubic bone instead of going under it.

Tania said as I was leaving recovery,  (I am paraphrasing.) "I have never seen someone push as hard as you.  You never had an epidural and you gave it everything.  I am so sorry that the c section happened, but I was very impressed by your drive.  If he had been in the right position he would have slipped right out in three pushes or less."  She may have been trying to make me feel better, but I words of encouragement.

Every person deserves to have a doula.  I had De'Andrea and Deva!  They were terrific and I had such a beautiful, no regret experience because of them.

We are officially a family.....The Hill Family :)
